Support Farm Animal Stewardship Purchasing Act (H.R. 5557)

Introduced on June 8, 2006, the federal Farm Animal Stewardship Purchasing Act would require producers who supply meat, dairy and eggs to federal programs to comply with moderate animal welfare standards. The bill would help ameliorate some of the worst suffering endured by animals raised for food in the U.S., and force factory farmers to recognize the suffering of farm animals.
