Vigils Outside Researchers' Homes This Evening
(KCPW News) Animal rights activists are hitting town at the same time as more than 4,000 members of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science gather here for their 57th national meeting. While protests are planned outside the Salt Palace Convention Center as well as downtown hotels where many attendees are staying, Utah Primate Freedom Project says vigils also are planned in the community:

"Most of the evening protests are also going to be home protests," says Jeremy Beckham of the Utah Primate Freedom Project. "They're going to be vigils outside people's homes related to animal research.

Utah Primate Freedom Project is dedicated to ending the use of primates in medical research locally. According to the group's website, the first home vigil will happen this evening, although the target of the "peaceful protest" has yet to be revealed.
